Best Left Unsaid

It hit me like a bullet

I really weren’t prepared

Cos I didn’t realise til then

Exactly how much I cared

I wanted to tell you stop

And be with me instead

But some things are worth saying

And some best left unsaid

.

I felt it in my stomach

I felt it in my brain

My soul was left shaking

And my heart was left in pain

I really want to tell you

What’s going on in my head

But some things are worth saying

And some best left unsaid

.

And so you’ll never know

What I’ve kept quiet for these years

Cos what the point in saying

When it’ll just make things weird

Even if it never stops

I’ll keep it quiet til I’m dead

Cos some things are worth saying

And some best left unsaid

.

I wonder if at one time

I may have had a shot

I guess there’s no point in thinking

Like that, if I did it’s been forgot

What’s the point in writing

You a poem you’ll never have read?

Cos some things are worth saying

And some best left unsaid

.

So I’ll smile when I see you

And act like life’s a joke

Cos what’s the point in trying

When I haven’t got a hope

I’ll have to keep laughing

Whilst my heart is torn to shreds

Cos some things are worth saying

And some best left unsaid

.

I hope that he sees

You the same way that I do

Cos you’re not the type to settle for

He’d be so lucky to have you

It’s best to wish for that

Then be hanging by a thread

Cos some things are worth saying

And some best left unsaid

.

Maybe you’ll invite me to your wedding

Maybe I’ll attend

Cos whatever happens

I’d rather have you as a friend

Maybe I’ll be happy

For you as you’re wed

Some things are worth saying

But some best left unsaid.
